Ostara or Eostre is a Germanic goddess.
A pre-Christian feast of the same name is attributed to her, which takes place on March 21, marking the spring equinox. On March 21, day and night are equal, nature comes to life, the plains begin to bloom. Birds begin building their nests, preparing them to lay their eggs, considered an eternal symbol of rebirth and fertility.
The artist was inspired in the creation of this work, completed on the eve of spring, by the work of Johannes Gehrts, "Ostara - 1884", but also by the legend of the goddess, perfectly interpreted by Jacob Grimm in 1882: "Ostara, Eástre seems therefore to have been the divinity of the radiant dawn, of upspringing light, a spectacle that brings joy and blessing". Thus associated with spring, the presence of Ostara brings with it rebirth, but also the renewal of hopes.
Using the technique of direct sculpture, like Brâncu?i, the artist combines Nordic influences with the heritage of Romanian folk art, rendering the spiritual dimension of this sculpture, through his own style.
