The work revolves around expressionism, featuring precisely outlined contours, blended yet contrasting palette of exquisite colors in knife work. The bold texture which is the hallmark of her work is actually symbolic of the fluctuations in humans’ emotion which may or may not affect his vision and how he perceives a particular environment. The artist has produced work in the genre of architectural paintings of Pakistani cultural heritage. “Nostalgia” is a series of paintings that take their direct inspiration from Murree- a diverse land as well as scenes from the outskirts of Islamabad. She has a deep association with the Potohar Plateau region which she wishes to express through her paintings. Her main areas of interest are passages, architecture, people and the landscapes of Murree. Saima believes that every place and every person has a story to tell, a story unheard or rather unpainted.
