I absolutely love raku-fired pottery. Since I don’t own a kiln, nor am I a pottery artist, trying to capture the essence of them in a painting was my goal. The paintings are on 24” x 18" x 1.5" museum quality gallery wrapped canvas (54 inches overall width). They are wired and ready to hang. I used asphaltum and bronze colored acrylic paint only, mixing them to achieve a very earth-rich color and feeling. The texture is created with acrylic mediums. Raku means "enjoyment", "comfort" or "ease" in Japanese. I added frames in some of the images to give an idea of how they could look if framed (painting is sold unframed).
