Brazilian black women and Chitão
Black women are presented in works by having a genuine joy and strength to face life, face the struggles arising from social inequalities in Brazilian daily life.
"Being black is to be surviving, knowing how to live life, how to be different. You have music on the body and joy in the soul. Back to his roots when nature calls," says the song "Being Black" rapper Gutto Bantu.
The painting of the black woman in a typically Brazilian fabric, Chitão, considered a manifestation of popular expression for their vibrant colors and prints made by large flowers, relates to the original expression of happiness and festive way of life of the Brazilian people, who experienced countless stories of punishment and suffering.
The artist has specialized in textile design and herself developed the floral pattern inspired by Chitão.
